6/18/2017 Let our beautiful journey and adventure begin from Orlando, FL to Dusseldorf, GermanyRead NowMy amazing daughter Kimberly planned a beautiful week long vacation to Germany. We left Sunday June 18th and returned Sunday June 25th The Flight was the most comfortable I have ever been on in my entire life traveling to Germany. "Click Photo below to enlarge" ![]() We arrived in Dusseldorf right on time at 6:30 am German time June 19th. My favorite nephew, Gunter was there to greet us with a huge smile and an American Flag Welcome Sign! Gunter made this week possible for Kim and I. He taken us everywhere we wanted to go in the short time we were there. A huge Thank You again to Gunter. You have been the most amazing, loving kindest young man. Since we were not tired from the long 10 hour Fight. We drove to Holland/ Netherlands to see this Beautiful Deer Park "Monde Verde" in Landgraf, Netherlands. June 20th, Refreshed from the long journey we set off to see the sites in Aachen, Germany. Aachen is a spa City near the Germany's borders with Belgium and the Netherlands. Aachen Cathedral was founded around 800 A.D. and a Gothic chancel was added later. Its Domschatzkammer (treasury) has medieval artifacts including the shrine of Charlemagne, who was buried here in 814 A.D. Nearby is the Baroque town hall, Aachener Rathaus, with 19th Century frescoes. Sulfurous water fills the fountains of Elisenbrunnen. Click below to see the Slideshow June 21th , Off to Heidelberg. The old Castle with ruins nestled in the hills. This wonderful Old City of Heidelberg is in Southwestern Germany on the Neckar River. Heidelberg is known for the University founded in the 14th Century. Gothic Heiliggeistkirche Church Towers over the Cafe lined Marketplace. The Town Square is called Altstadt. (Old Town). Church of the Holy Spirit (Heilig Geist Kirche) is close by. We spent so much time exploring the Castle, we did not get to see Old Town so we spent the night in Heidelberg. This was the most beautiful Hotel I ever stayed. "DerEuropaeische Hof" Private Hotel since 1865 June 22, fun time exploring Old Heidelberg June 23, the next day we we off to Monschau. Monschau is a town in western Germany, near the Belgian border. It is known for its medieval center with half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets. Monschau Castle hosts open -air concerts. Trails will lead you to the nearby Eifel National Parks. After leaving the beautiful Town of Monschau. We were on our way to the Drei Lander Punkt. In English Three Country Point which is located in Vaals/Netherlands. After climbing to the top of the structure you can see 3 Countries: Germany, Netherlands and Belgium. The most amazing sites to see. June 24th, I stayed behind to visit for the day with my brother, Karlheinz.
My daughter Kimberly, Gunter, his son Ken and Ken's girlfriend Jacqui took the train to Amsterdam. They had a wonderful time seeing the sites. I had a great time with my Brother and Karen too. June 25th, Sadly it was time to say goodbye to Germany. We had to leave at 8:00 am to catch our plane from Dusseldorf back to Orlando Florida. We all had the best time even though it was so very short but don't worry, we will be back! A huge "Thank You" to my wonderful, awesome daughter Kimberly for making this journey possible. Love you so much Mom.
